Annual General Meeting

Hello Everyone!

Unfortunately due to unforseen circumstances the skydive AGM has been moved to Wednesday 6th May at 7:30pm

We hope to see as many of you as possible there to enjoy free pizza and to vote for our next committee. Remember, you don’t need much skydiving experience to be on the committee, just a love of the sport! Here are the job descriptions for the positions available:

As president you must oversee every part of managing the club. You must be aware of everything that needs to be done and dictate responsibilities to other committee members. Some of the specific responsibilities in this role include organising committee meetings, writing agendas, organising jump courses, working with other clubs, checking financial reports, buying equipment, completing health and safety forms, writing articles and many more.

Vice President

A fairly open-ended role with the potential to do a bit of everything! For example, the VP may organise jump-courses, liaise with the dropzone and Student Union, organise and/or book transport and respond to emails and enquiries during the beginning of the year. Often somewhere in between (and complimentary to) the President and the Secretary.

As secretary you would generally be the first person people contact about the skydiving club. It involves helping to organise signups to courses, keeping any interested members up to date about relevant jump courses and keeping minutes at committee meetings. Throughout the year you will need to keep tabs on the equipment and ensure it gets any maintenance required.

The treasurer updates the books, compiles financial reports, pay the necessary bills and people, keeps an eye out for potential grants, and tells the committee when there is enough money to invest in equipment.

Social Secretary

The role of skydiving Social Sectary is to organise and coordinate all social events. This year this included: organising night outs and liaising with nightclub staff for deals or tables, or coordinating other recreational activities, for example bowling; organising participation to sports nights such as SCORE; booking end of term society meals such as the Christmas meal; creating Facebook events for all of the above; and liaising with neighbouring clubs to combine social events and meet ups.

Responsible for web presence of the society. Maintains and updates the domain, including club website and society email addresses. Is in charge of sending emails to our memebers and to our mailing list from the freshers fair. Keeps Bristol SU society web page up-to-date. Tweets from @SkydiveBristol. General web guru.
